Steve has been singing behind the DJ booth ever since he started Djing, but eventually decided to contact a vocal coach to train. Since he first performed at the Market Rasen Vintage Tea Dance, he has appeared as a vocalist at many events.

Steve performs using high quality backing tracks and sings a wide range of songs from the 20s - 60s, but everything he chooses has its roots in swing or jazz music.  He chooses songs to suit the event and can encourage dancing or singing along as you prefer. Steve loves building a rapport with his audience and never fails to achieve laughter and smiles.  

As a solo vocalist for your swing or vintage dance, Steve will choose songs to get dancers onto the floor.  He knows exactly which songs will attract dancers, and will lead or teach dances as required, too.

If you’re looking for an entertainer for your vintage event, Steve will choose music appropriate to the era.  He researches the songs so that he can share interesting information as well as encouraging engagement through dance or singing. He will happily provide Djing and teaching alongside his singing.

Steve also loves to perform alongside other performers.  He is often joined by Saxophonist, Mike Wood, and they work well together using recorded backing tracks.  In addition, he can perform with a guitarist which provides a more relaxed style of music suited to smaller venues.  If you are interested in what might be possible, please contact us.

Hep n’ Swingin’ Vintage Dance Band have proven themselves to be popular with dancers and listeners alike. They have carefully researched songs which are popular with dancers and work hard to perform them

At original tempos.  They perform a wide range of dance friendly music from the 20s - 60s.  This includes music originally known as Rhythm and Blues, Western Swing, or Jump blues.

The band is composed of four experienced jazz musicians, who have played in other dance or big bands, and is fronted by Steve Mason.  Steve has twenty years experience in swing dance and music which means each song they perform is a hit with the dancers.
